The trustee has certain powers to avoid  liens that were created shortly before the bankruptcy case was filed or to avoid or reverse transfers of assets from the debtor to friends or relatives for less than fair value, or transfers that were made in an effort to defraud creditors or to treat some creditors in preference to others.
